Yesterday we met with BMA leadership and received 10 counter proposals, including wages. If we’re being honest, we were disappointed by much of what management presented to us yesterday. While there was some progress on both economics and non-economics, we remain far apart on some basic components of how we believe equitable and fair wages should be established at the BMA. Most notably, the BMA has rejected both our proposal for longevity increases (or higher pay based on years of tenure at the BMA) and for a paid 40-hour work week (to achieve paid lunches for hourly staff).
In addition to presenting a counter on wages, BMA leadership also presented counter articles on vacation and personal leave, work week, holidays, insurance and benefits, health and safety, subcontracting, seniority, union security, and attendance.
Let’s talk about it! Join us for a general meeting to discuss everything we’ve received from management and our next steps as a union on Sunday, January 21st at 5:45 PM on Zoom. Members should have received an email with the Zoom information. Please email [email protected] if you did not receive it and would like the Zoom information.
